#NationalOppositeDay - April 20th, 2011

So what is #NationalOppositeDay?

Ever notice that oh so subtle way that a lot of White people alert minorities that—well, that they’re minorities? You know, crossing the street to escape a group of young Black men, being so amazed at how articulate a minority might be, assuming <insert ethnic name> obviously does <insert ethnic activity>? Well you can acknowledge all of that on #NationalOppositeDay.

So ask your White friend can you touch their hair—you know, because it seems so exotic. Express how you think their “people” are just so hard working. You see a White person in an ethnic neighborhood—call the cops, you know, just to “make sure.” Maybe they’re lost. The cops can help. Mispronounce really, really White names although you’ve been told how to say it numerous times. Affect your voice with what you assume to be a White tone when talking to White folks because, duh, thats how they talk.

And add your own!
